OUR FRIENDS and COMMUNITY
Water Wanderers are supporters, members or work with the following organisations, events and activities
Kayaking is often likened to bushwalking on water and is an ideal way to conduct a trip or expedition. It gives a different perspective and the kayaks or canoes carry the gear. Water Wanderers has a great working relationship with a couple of Perth schools and love being involved in the pre-trip instruction and day and overnight trips.
Water Wanderers work with Paddle Academy who work predominately with Perth and outlying metropolitan schools. Groups learn all the basic paddling skills with an emphases on learning while having lots of fun. Summer is flatwater and oceans and Winter is flatwater and white-water.
UOTS is a paddling community event that Water Wanderers co hosts with Paddle WA (state association for paddling). Our aim in the next 6 to 10 years is to set a world record for the largest raft of canoes, kayaks and skis. The event is evolving rapidly. In its 3rd year (2018) we rafted in front of Optus Stadium followed by an after party, with live music, food, coffee and prizes. The main highlight is being featured in an amazing drone video by SkyworksWA
UNITE ON THE SWAN (UOTS)
Water Wanderers has teamed up with Adventurous Women to provide an overnight paddling trip, on the Murray River near Pinjarra - South Yunderup area. Day one of paddling includes lots of bush scenery in a rural narrow section of the River and Day two is paddling out the river mouth and more of an Estuary setting.
and bookings are on the Adventurous Women website.
River Guardians are friends of the Swan and Canning rivers. They help keep the rivers healthy and by become a River Guardian you will be connected with the Swan Canning Riverpark and the people and programs protecting our rivers.
Having an army of volunteers to help look after our river environment is vital, they achieve a lot of good things.
